Abstract :
A very small integrated ultrasonic signal processing chip for intraluminal catheter systems is presented. This chip can be used to transmit and receive signals in the range of 20 MHz to an ultrasonic array with a high number of transducers to provide images of cavities as small as 2.5 mm. The circuit concept is optimized for extreme requirements concerning signal frequency, chip size and power consumption. The chip is fabricated in a 1.5 ¿m CMOS process.
