  • Abstract
In this paper, we focus on the downlink performance of a multi-user distributed wireless communication system(DWCS). The power consumption of each network-side antenna element is investigated. Without loss of insights, the single antenna mobile terminals are considered, and a simple antenna selection scheme is adopted, based on which each mobile terminal is served by only the network-side antenna element with the strongest channel gain. By assuming ideal joint processing on the network side, we derive the relationship between the power consumption and the worst-point signal to interference and noise ratio (WP-SINR) theoretically. Compared with the co-located antenna system (CAS) and the distributed antenna system (DAS), the power consumption of a DWCS is greatly reduced for the same guaranteed WP-SINR. Thus, DWCS is concluded as a promising power-efficient green radio system.
