Abstract
China´s teaching reform has witnessed great stides made in reading, writing and listening on the part of Chinese students; however, students´ performance in speaking is far from satisfactory. After identifying the factors affecting oral English teaching, some strategies are put forward to improve teaching based on the author´s own experience and some already-conducted research.
