Abstract :
This paper presents a system level study of a wireless subcutaneous transmitter for biotelemetry applications operating at 2.4 GHz/ISM frequency band. The transmitter follows the IEEE 802.15.4 ZigBee standards. Since efficient power consumption is a critical point in implantable devices, a highly efficient power amplifier (PA) is needed. A class E power amplifier which achieved PAE of 73.4% is used with ZigBee transmitter. The simulation results show that the transmitter has an error vector magnitude (EVM) of 10% which satisfies the 35% ZigBee requirement.
