The effects of stress state triaxiality on the fracture behaviors of TC4 titanium alloy was studied with Material Test Systems. The fracture characters of TC4 titanium alloy strongly depend on the stress triaxiality. the failure strain under compress state is larger than that under pure shear state, and the failure strain in smooth tension test is the largest, and in the regime of stress triaxiality above 1/3, the failure strain decreases with increasing stress triaxiality. The failure strain character of TC4 obtained from experiment was discussed and described with piecewise function.
