    The concept of length-diameter ratio is introduced and the stress status of hi-speed milling cutter is analyzed with finite element method based on the ANSYS software. The impact of the length-diameter ratio variation on the stress and strain of milling cutter is researched to optimize the diameter and overhang of the cutter.
