The influence of powder preheating on powder blowing, critical scanning speed, and surface quality in Electron Beam Selective Melting (EBSM) technology was investigated. Results shown that the mixed 316L stainless steel powder with 60% gas-atomized powder and 40% water-atomized powder does not only have a proper critical scanning speed which avoid the powder blowing, but also have a good fluidity and a suitable forming ability. The critical scanning speed increases with the increasing powder preheating temperature, and the optimal preheating technology of the mixed 316L stainless steel powder is 800 □ for 60 s.
