Abstract :
This paper presents a transmission line fault classification method by using detail coefficient from discrete wavelet transform of fault currents. The fault classification relies on threshold values of spectral energy. Various conditions are setup for different types of faults. The proposed method has been verified using actual fault data in Thailand´s transmission system. Results from other available fault classification methods are compared and tabulated. The proposed method reveals a good performance for a fault classification on Thailand´s transmission system.
