Abstract :
This paper presents results of properties of Ethyene Propylene Diene Monomer ( EPDM ) insulation study, e.g. ageing, hydrophobic which operate influence the electrical characteristic of EPDM insulator etc. when they are subjected by industrial dust with ozone pollutions. The test results showed that the insulation resistance of EPDM when it was under low ozone environment and exposed to various kinds of polluted conditions including original EPDM under low ozone were sharply and significantly decreased . When the duration of ageing is prolonged, the insulation resistance trends to be reduced. In addition, the insulation resistance of EPDM insulation under high ozone was slightly lower than that of low ozone. It is also found that hydrophobic property of EPDM insulation when they were under low and high ozone environment and exposed to all various kinds of dust including original EPDM under low and high ozone environments were obviously changed and classified to be WC5 as according to IEC 62073.
