Abstract :
This paper presents an alternative approach for signal processing for real-time monitoring and disturbance mitigation in a power system signals. The technique can used to evaluate the instantaneous fundamental and harmonic components of the currents and voltages. The proposed approach is based on an efficient least squares algorithm and evaluates the instantaneous cosine and sine terms of voltage and currents components. Once the instantaneous cosine and sine terms have been evaluated all other quantities such as constituting component, symmetrical components and power component can be readily calculated. This paper (i.e. Part-1) provides the detailed derivation of the proposed method. The Part-2 of the paper presents simulation results including comparison study against traditional DFT method in order demonstrate the superiority of the proposed approach.
