Abstract :
It has been show that efficient scan technique serves to enhance the performance of image compression. In this paper, we study means of improving multi-dimensional discrete cosine transform (DCT) coding by proposing two scan modes for three-dimension (3-D) DCT coefficient matrix. Then we conduct compression processing on color image based on four-dimensional (4-D) vector DCT orthogonal transform. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed modes provide better compression performance than JPEG.
