Abstract :
Synthesizing recent researches of Internet traffic measurements and analyses, a model for packet switched core networks of packet-level and a model for circuit switched core networks of flow-level are founded respectively, and the methods of figuring the core link bandwidth are presented according the sufficient condition for the network to guarantee the media synchronization as the demand of performance metrics for streaming media. Numerical calculating and analyzing on the statistical data from actual networks shows that packet switched core networks and circuit switched core networks can provide similar service for streaming media in delay and delay jitter performance.
