Abstract
This paper selects all the provincial libraries and the libraries of their capital cities for a total of 50 to investigate the application of Web2.0 technologies. The investigation includes RSS, Blog, Wiki, IM, Tag, Ajax, Toolbar and SNS and so on, and the paper analyzes the technologies and their application. The results show that the application of Web2.0 technologies among Chinese provincial libraries and their capital city libraries are still in the initial stage of development, about a half of the surveyed libraries deployed Web2.0, mainly including RSS, Blog, IM and Tag. The application of IM is most widely. Wiki and Toolbar were mot used in the surveyed libraries, and nearly 37% libraries don´t use Web2.0. Finally, the authors analyze some reasons of this situation from the library idea, technology, librarians´ qualification and user´s information literacy, they also put forward some countermeasures.
