Abstract
The avalanche photodiode (APD) as the receiver, we have studied the influence of the timing error on performance of the optical pulse PPM system after analyzing the atmospheric laser communication channel model, and obtain the relationship between the normalized timing error and Frame Error Rate in the strong and weak turbulent environment. In addition, we obtain the influence of parameters (such as the scintillation index and the PPM modulation level) change on performance of the optical pulse PPM system.
