Abstract
In this paper a novel method for designing dual frequency compact printed dipole antennas is presented. The antenna consists of two printed dipoles groups distributed on both sides of the dielectric substrate. Each group presents a log-periodic behaviour with the frequency. Design optimization is carried out by an own FDTD code. As an example, a low-cost dual band antenna for Wi-Fi applications in 2.5GHz-5GHz bands is designed, fabricated and measured. Two operation frequency bands with a wide bandwidth (more than 25%) and moderate gain (3.3dBi at 2.5GHz and 7.5dBi at 5GHz) are obtained.
