Abstract :
The paper describes development of a millimetre-wave imaging system using multi-element aperture filling techniques [1]. Such imaging systems are increasingly demonstrated for security applications and in particular standoff imaging of persons and bonding flaw and defect detection [2]. The major impact of the imaging system presented here is the multi-element architecture in bi-static operational mode, which provides much better image resolution and good image quality as compared with mono-static approaches employed widely today. In addition, the system is aimed at real-time operation and image processing. Real-time operation is considered as one of the key factors hindering widespread implementation today.
