Abstract :
The present paper reports a planar Ultra Wideband (UWB) monopole antenna designed to operate inside a Universal Serial Bus (USB) dongle. Dielectric loading with inexpensive substrates was used in the design. The built antenna prototype was tested inside a USB device case within a dongle connected to a laptop computer. The case effects on antenna performance were studied. Measurements of |S11| with the antenna connected to a laptop, over a metallic table and in a situation close to free space, have shown small effects on the antenna performance.
