Abstract :
A recently developed thin film anisotropic magneto-dielectric material is investigated as substrate for slot-fed patch antenna. This article aims to analytically determine radio electric parameters of magneto-conductive thin films for a patch antenna substrate application. A realistic dispersive behavior of a practically realizable substrate is embedded into the model. In the present paper we discuss the effect of magneto-dielectric substrates on the impedance properties of microstrip antennas. Study focuses on the impact of substrate conductivity on the patch antenna resonant frequency. It is shown on one hand that conductivity of the substrate plays a very important role in the resonant frequency of the loaded antenna. On the other hand we demonstrated how such materials with conductive and dispersive magnetic permeability could lead to an advantageous trade-off in antenna miniaturization. Comparisons between the specifically developed model for such structures and simulations are made to validate this observation.
