Abstract
Two Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) antennas for Ultra-Wideband (UWB) communications are designed and analyzed in this paper. Both systems comprised of two identical circular disc monopoles operate in the frequency range of 3.0–12 GHz and provide good diversity. The method for designing, optimizing and characterizing is described in detail. To analyze their performance for UWB operation, the impedance matching and radiation characteristics have been investigated. For MIMO operation, mutual coupling and correlation have been examined. The presented results are based on both simulations and measurements. Both antennas are compared on the basis of their performance keeping their size same i.e., 80 × 43 mm2.
