Abstract :
This paper presents design and experimental validation of the radiation performance of a mm wave antenna comprising of a torroidal shaped reflector with multiple sub reflectors to be used in NASA´s SIRICE mission. Design aspects of the SIRICE antenna system are discussed and a near-field amplitude-only measurement setup is described for experimental validation of the radiation performance of the SIRICE antenna. A global optimization procedure, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), was used to estimate the phase front of the measured near-field. The radiation performance of a standard X-band antenna obtained from near-field amplitude-only measurements is compared with its documented performance.
