Abstract
A single-layer reflectarray operating as sub-reflector of a dual-reflector configuration was designed for shaped beam application at Ku-band. An optimization method was utilized in the design of the reflectarray to achieve a broad bandwidth of 11 GHz – 14.5 GHz. This optimization was used to minimize the phase error of the achieved and desired phases on the aperture of the reflectarray for not only the centre but also the extreme frequencies. Double cross loop elements were used as reflectarray elements. The calculated radiation patterns at the centre and extreme frequencies meet the required specifications closely.
