Abstract
In this paper a hybrid ray tracing/statistical channel model for the ultra-wideband (UWB) frequency range is proposed. The conventional ray tracing model is complemented with randomly distributed point scatterers placed on the surface of objects in the scenario model. The wave propagation in such scenario is calculated in a deterministic way and preserves the directional properties of the channel. Thus, it is suitable for simulation of MIMO channels. The scatterers parameters are derived from the measurements. The proposed model reflects the channel impulse response and the channel parameter better than the conventional ray tracing simulation.
