  • Abstract
    Wideband E-shaped patch antenna design is presented. The design technique is based on a self-adaptive Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm. In order to evaluate the algorithm´s performance we compare results with three other common evolutionary algorithms regarding statistical results and convergence speed. The results show that the self-adaptive DE algorithm outerperforms other global optimizers like Particle swarm optimization (PSO) variants and the DE rand/1/bin strategy. Therefore, the results indicate the advantages of this approach and the applicability of this design method to other optimization problems in electromagnetics.
