Abstract :
In this investigation, the coupler forces of heavy-haul train were studied through on-track tests and simulation. A serial of tests were performed to discuss the change and delivery law of the coupler forces when the 5000t-marshalling train was running under the cases of braking, starting and skating. Meanwhile, an integrated model of train longitudinal dynamics was established which was validated by using measured longitudinal force time histories from on-track tests. Case study shows that the maximum coupler forces far exceed the current design load of static strength.
