Abstract
Surface deformation of goaf is a complex non-linear process, which has a hidden, complexity, and long-term features. Before building the life or service facilities in the goaf, we must have evaluated the stability and residual. In this paper, a new idea was put forward for stability analysis and evaluation of goaf by multi-scale decomposition using EMD(Empirical Mode Decomposition) method. Case study confirmed that we can get the detail signals of the dynamic deformation of the goaf by multi-scale decomposition using EMD, which help us to grasp the details of surface deformation process, Decomposition analysis of the various scales help us to more accurately and effectively evaluate the deformation characteristics reflected of raw data and to research the deformation mechanism of the goaf. This method can be used as an effective stability evaluation method of the goaf.
