Abstract
An efficient Personal Video Recorder (PVR) system is proposed to improve the performance based on the new file system. The proposed file system makes it easier to truncate the head of a PVR file. It manipulates the time shifting and general purpose files in a unified file format. It eliminates the requirement of reserved and fixed storage area for time shifting. It also eliminates the need and time taken for the conversion from time shifting to general purpose file format. The lifetime of the storage device can be prolonged in result. The experimental results show that the transfer rate is improved compared with the previous file system.
