Abstract
Program is soul of the computer, while algorithm is kernel of the program. This paper discusses the guiding ideology of teaching program design, emphasizes the importance of improving students´ debugging capabilities. In order to cope with varying education levels caused by domestic regional economic disparities, the authors proposed opening a new course “The Computer Algorithm and Practice” as the threshold to the computer beginners and have developed a practice platform with a simple syntax, simple debugging environment. This platform provides students with an intuitive and effective auxiliary. After three years of teaching practice, it is verified that the course and the platform lay a solid foundation for follow-up computing courses.
