This paper, based on China´s statistical data from 1985 to 2007, by employing unit root test, VAR model and variance decomposition, studies the impact of housing consumption on China´s economic growth. The result denotes that the alteration of GDP is mostly affected by its own alteration, housing consumption is also important in explaining the variance of GDP. Housing consumption in China has greater impact on China´s economic growth. The government urgently needs to take a series of policies and measures to enforce housing consumption.
