Abstract
When service providers (SPs) provide delay-sensitive service over packet-switched networks, it is essential to manage the high percentile of packet transfer delay. We focus on the monitoring of the high percentile of delay based on baseline performance, which SPs consider as a normal state from results of performance measurements. First, we state two requirements of the criteria from the view point of network operation. Then, we discuss on the high-percentile delay monitoring scheme. We propose a method for determining the threshold value for the scheme and describe a feasible algorithm with the method. The results of simulation experiments show that our method can satisfy the above requirements.
