Abstract :
With the spread of high-speed access networks, new communication services are expected to create new market opportunities. Communication services can be personalized, due to the changing lifestyles of users. Many services that have appeared in the past five years, such as social network service (SNS) and video share, can be expected to improve human relations and provide new opportunities for personalized communities. It is important to provide “personalized” services, security, and privacy control that can coexist with the following requirements: To improve user convenience, the procedures for accessing contents should be simple. To protect users´ personal information from malicious individuals, authentication and authorization for user access should be strictly enforced. We propose the personal communication platform (PCPF) to address the above mentioned issues. Among user-oriented contents, scheduling data can be one of the most frequently accessed ones, because these data constitute important factors for user communication. Therefore, we will discuss schedule communications as a main use case of a PCPF-based service. In this practical application, PCPF will determine whether to show items to accessed users based on their privacy-control level. PCPF works as follows: Mutual authentication among registered colleagues is determined through an authentication and authorization (AA) function; the privacy-control function provides scheduling data as a set of restricted items based on their privacy-control level; and the privacy-control level is determined semi automatically from the communication history. We conducted an experiment of PCPF and confirmed its feasibility.
