Abstract
A novel image edge extraction method is presented to overcome the shortcomings such as sensitive to initial situation, low constringency in the energy minimum process of the traditional Snake model method. The 2D discrete wavelet transformation and LUM filter method are combined to pre-treat the image, and then a novel external force model is built to compute the external energy, and finally the wavelet-pyramid method is combined with the improved Snake model, which is the so-called wavelet-pyramid-improved-snake model to extract the image edge. The experiments of the edge extraction of fighter plane edge proved the effectiveness of the present method.
