Using resources provided by cell broadband engine in order to develop an application of hierarchical data clustering

The analysis of large data volumes needs high computational ability. In order to accomplish this analysis in reasonable time, computer systems based upon multicore processors should be used. A method of implementing an algorithm of hierarchical data clustering to a computer system based on Cell BE processor is presented in this paper. The algorithm illustrated here was implemented in two versions: the first uses just a core, and as concerns the second one, all cores provided by this processor are used. At the end, the performance rising achieved by starting all cores on Cell BE processor is emphasized.
