Abstract
Through motivation and fulfilling employees´ expectations, organizations are able to satisfy their employees and reduce their costly turnovers. Furthermore, employee´s satisfaction seems to vary depending on age. Unlike the other generations, Generation Y represents a segment of employees which is considered to be in need of high maintenance with unique and challenging expectations. Identifying expectations of Generation-Y engineers is of critical importance to employers in order for them to satisfy and retain this generation of employees. In this paper, 12 expectations for Generation Y engineers are identified. Engineers in the UAE who belong to this generation were surveyed and their perception to the relative importance of each of the 12 expectations is reported.
