Abstract :
In this paper we consider motion compensation of vehicle-borne SAR for landmine detecting, where the motion error is one of the major challenges. Motion compensations algorithms in both azimuth and range direction are discussed. Aiming at vehicle-borne SAR, the motion compensation in range direction utilizes only one 1-axis MEMS accelerometer instead of a 6 Degrees of Freedom inertial sensor, and the motion compensation in azimuth direction can be done only by the knowledge of the vehicle´s velocity. The experiment results demonstrate that the motion compensation algorithm together with a standard low-cost accelerometer can yield very useful images for vehicle-borne SAR for landmine detection.
