Using GIS technique and database management technique, this article introduces design and development environment of information management system (IMS), structure and functions of IMS, data acquisition standards and its modes, predicts prospect for the application of GIS technique in groundwater exploration, solves the problem of dispersive preservation of exploration achievements, moreover, achieves centralization of management and sharing exploration achievements.
