Oil shale slag is a kind of solid waste existing in large quantity in China, which brings severe negative effect to people´s health and ecological environment. This paper takes oil shale slag in the city of Maoming, Guangdong Province as the study subject. Based on a comprehensive and systematic analysis of the chemical composition and mineral constituent and other basic properties of oil shale slag, this paper has carried on a trial research of manufacturing Ceramsite with oil shale slag as the main materials and conducted a test analysis of the water absorbing capacity, compressive resistance and other qualities of Ceramsite made of oil shale slag. The result shows that the Ceramsite meets the china national standard GB 2839 - 81´s requirement and can be used as light architectural aggregate.
