Abstract :
With the technology of Remote Sensing (abbr. RS) and Geographic Information System (abbr. GIS), We had gained the wetland landscape spatial database and attribute database of Hubei province from land-use maps, TM images, we have an investigation of the condition of wetland resources in Hubei Province. According to The results of the remote sensing survey and comprehensive analysis, it is showed that, around 2005, the total areas of wetland resources of Hubei Province were 36308.04 km2, excluding the area of paddy field, it is 16,551.58 km2. Among the whole wetlands of Hubei Province, paddy fields hold 54.41%, pond wetlands hold 19.46%, river wetlands hold 14.90%, lake wetlands hold 8.33%, beach lands hold 2.00%, and marsh lands hold 0.90%. According to the changes of the areas of the wetlands, we can see that the areas of lake wetlands and paddy fields had been decreasing while the areas of river wetlands, pond wetlands, beach lands and marshlands had some increase.
