Spatial heterogeneity is the fundamental attribute of landscape and the reason for landscape elements generating matter flow and energy flow. On the basis of the distribution of aquatic vegetation landscape in Honghu Lake, we have carried out exploratory applied research on the method of landscape anisotropy. We determine the directions of anisotropy at a center-emanative and radioactive angle, and establish the index system of one-dimensional landscape patch characteristics. Through analyzing the basic information about the number and size of vegetation patches of the vegetation landscape in 32 directions in Honghu Lake in 2001, we get the differences of landscape characteristics in each direction. As a new try at quantitative anisotropy, in a sense, this method can reflect on the differences of vegetation landscape structure in different directions.
