  • Abstract
    To overcome the difficulty in the identification of parameter of the water environmental system using standard genetic algorithm (SGA), a new method, namely float-type genetic algorithm (FGA), was suggested for determination of longitudinal dispersion coefficient in river. The method which is based on one dimensional water quality model with instantaneous source was validated by an ideal test and a numerical test. The computational results of FGA indicate that the new method can give better precision and faster convergence for tracer test.
