Abstract :
This paper presents a novel image fusion method based on orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) and wavelet. Exploiting the OMP algorithm, the main nonlinear features of source images are extracted and fused together under the constraint of the approximation error. Then the residual images are continued to be fused through a wavelet fusion method. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can achieve better performance than the traditional wavelet method in combining and preserving important details in the composite images.
