Abstract
Delay effect is compared in the electrical and chemical synaptic coupled Hidmarsh-Rose (HR) neurons systems. Simulation results show that in linear electrical coupling, delay can help to synchronize the neurons. But in the chemical synaptic coupling case, the change of time delay may periodically eliminate the original firing signal.
