Upstream oil and gas drilling processes and instrumentation open to new technology

The oil and gas industry is heavily dependent on instrumentation and measurement technology. This article explores the relationship between the petroleum industry and the I&M technology that supports it. It specifically identifies technology needed by, but not yet available to, the industry. Research groups are invited to consider how their efforts might be applied to the industry´s exciting and remarkably demanding measurement problems.
