Abstract :
Highly ytterbium-doped bismuth-oxide-based fibers were fabricated. The absorbance of a core glass was 2800 dB/m. Fiber lasers were also demonstrated using a 0.14-m of fiber, and a slope efficiency of 62% was obtained.
