Abstract :
The problem of multipath propagation in the tracking low-altitude targets with a radar is addressed. It is well known that multipath fading causes bias errors to the target altitude over the sea. Since multipath propagation depends on the frequency of the radar waveform, the actual target altitude and range, estimation of the bias errors is difficult problem. In this paper, we propose an altitude estimation method using multipath propagation model. Our method uses the reliability of each assumed altitude hypothesis based on multipath propagation model to estimate the real altitude of targets. Through computer simulation trials, the validity of our method is confirmed.
