Abstract
In order to modeling deformable objects, a novel energy-based method is presented based on space deformation in this paper. It is a physically-based model by introducing energy minimization technique to a geometric method. An object is represented as a triangular mesh, and its stretching and bending energy are considered. The deformation problem is converted into a quadratic optimization with linear equality constraints. Experimental results show that the proposed model is a shape-preserving method and it can be combined with skeleton-driven technique easily to achieve convenient control of the deformations.
