Abstract :
Web-based virtual laboratories are promising to save experimental cost, to avoid danger, and to support collaboration and resource sharing. This paper discusses the theoretic basis for the design of web-based virtual laboratories, proposes four key design issues, including the design of virtual experimental instruments, the design of virtual experimental contexts, the design of virtual tutor, and the design of virtual operations.
