  • Abstract
    This paper proposes a new method to control lapping speed of the lapping machine properly, which may reduce lapping stroke and improve lapping accuracy and quality. In the beginning of lapping, the rotating acceleration of the lapping tool is controlled. It makes the acceleration increase from zero slowly. When lapping speed reaches a certain figure, inflection point of acceleration appears. Then the rotating acceleration of the lapping tool is controlled from maximum to reduce gradually until the lapping tool rotating speed arriving normal lapping speed. At this time, the lapping tool rotating acceleration reduces to zero and the lapping tool rotates at a high constant speed to lap the workpiece. As the same, when lapping is finished, lapping tool rotating speed is controlled also. Its deceleration is increased gradually until its maximum and then decreased until zero. At this time, the rotating speed of the lapping tool is reduced to zero too and the lapping process is finished.
