Abstract :
In this paper, a novel feeding system as an open rectangular cavity is proposed for microstrip patch antennas, which provides a wide impedance bandwidth (about 119%) in the UWB band (3.1GHz to 10.6GHz), high gain (about 5dBi) and appropriate miniaturization for mobile applications. One prototype model is fabricated and tested. The computer simulation results and measurement data agree very well in the specified frequency band.
