Abstract :
The long term optimal operation of hydropower stations involves non-linear optimization with high dimensionality. An improved particle swarm optimization is presented in this article to solve the problem. The capacity of solving nonlinear problems is enhanced effectively through adjusting inertia factor dynamically in the algorithm of particle swarm optimization. In order to test the performance of the algorithm, it is applied to solve the long term optimal operation of hydropower station. The results showed that this algorithm is feasible for the problems of complex non-linear systems with rapid speed of convergence and superior precision.
