Abstract :
In the traditional algorithms for free curves, the coons, Bezier, B spline and NURBS have used the algorithms which are generally generated by the polynomial basic functions. Although these algorithms can process fitting free curves effectively, their operations are complicated and the curves shape control is not ideal. Especially to generate the free curves which have simple bend such as hair and grass, these algorithms are more complicated relatively. Aimed at the simple curves with fewer inflexions, this thesis used the simplified polyline fitting to improve the curve generated method of cantilever beam model. The method subdivides any beeline into a number of sections of lines and controls the curve direction with added external force parameter. Each section can simply be bended freely against the previous section taking account of the external force, thus the bend fitting of the whole curve is generated. This algorithm is simple and can generate free curve rapidly, so it can be used in generating hair, grass, etc.
